No shame there, it's a bit obscure. Aragorn's childhood name was Estel, Sindarin/Elvish for "Hope." At one point his mother told him, "Ónen i-Estel Edain. Ú-chebin Estel anim." - roughly, "I gave Hope to the Dunedain [Aragorn's people]; I kept no hope for myself."
It's my slightly tongue-in-cheek way of saying "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."
