I am dry and warm. The snow is piled high around here and MTA is down, but other than mild inconveniences of people going crazy getting ready for the storm, it hasn't been that bad.

Actually, I am more frustrated by the fact that my roommate hasn't emptied the pot of food gone bad that was sitting in our sink. I know it's a blizzard, but it stinks and it keeps me from going into the kitchen to get work done. If that's the worst I can complain about after a superstorm, I'm lucky.

(Is it just me, or are we getting more and more weather like this? Any longterm US northerners want to compare the last five years or so to earlier?)

Several, actually. The new place is on a street lining a park meaning it's purely residential and so there are a few community gardens, daycare center playgrounds, and even just empty lots. Lots of green space around here for a city. :-)
