On a more fannish note, EW is doing a focus on Hunger Games: Catching Fire this week. They have the cover up online, and it features Katniss and Finnick.

I’m curious what book fans make of this glimpse of Finnick. He strikes me as a little less, I don’t know, brawny and tanned than I imagined that character. Also a little too young. Without going into spoilers, in the book Finnick has done a lot of living by the time we meet him. I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to imagine this whippersnapper as a man with his backstory. I think I was expecting something like a blond-haired movie!Boromir, somehow. Does this visual match what you expected for this character?

Not at all. The book says Finnick is in his thirties.

I've only read the books once so I couldn't remember exactly how old, but he's portrayed as being a friend of Haymitch's over several years. Someone who could easily be Peeta's or Gale's age doesn't work for me at all. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

My mistake, he was 24, but that guy is still too young. Although he is certainly pretty enough.

Hmmm, he doesn't look like my mental image of Finnick at all. "My" Finnick looks older (older than his actual age, even) and more Mediterranean in his looks.
