meaning of LJ username

My username, fidesquaerens, comes from a sort of motto popular in medieval Christian philosophy: fides quaerens intellectum. That's usually translated as "faith seeking understanding," but that translation is as unhelpful as it is pithy. I take it to mean that I have faith in something I cannot explain, but that I am not satisfied with that state and so am driven to find something more. An expansion of sorts.

Plus, it's a nice way to be quirky and geeky in my daily life.

I'm also posting a techno version of this song. Which is also beautiful, only not quite as serene. I'm usually not into techno, but this one works. It relies on the fact that this particular song was originally slated to appear on the Twilight soundtrack.
