Reading this, I can't help thinking there's some deep comment about American attitudes toward freedom and facts, but I can't quite work it all out. Rather, I will just smile because this is so how many of us approach food...

Then there are the people who are horrified at the thought of dumping a teaspon of sugar into their coffee but consume mass quantities of sugar in candy, soda, and so on. I guess it seems worse when you can actually see the sugar?

Oh xkcd, you have it right again. Though I would probably use that rationalization, too, just because I'm so crazy about chocolate.
