My Google alert has recently turned up a rather interesting blog: Tolkien: Medieval and Modern. It appears to be a blog for a class where students write reflections on various Tolkienian concepts and I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable commenting, but even if that's not an option, I find some of the topics they're discussing to be fascinating. Shortish but well-written and clearly written by people with a deep knowledge of Tolkien's writings. Fans of the book may find it worth a poke-around.

Oh, that's a most interesting site. Thank you! I especially like this part...

The kind of music that the elves are here described as making is far and away different than the light-hearted rhymes the hobbits sing as they travel. Frodo is spellbound, and the Elves’ music causes visions to ‘take shape.’ It creates images in his imagination. Even the language Tolkien uses to describe the Elvish music is similar to that of the music of creation: ‘interchanging melodies’ are replaced in Rivendell with ‘interwoven words.’

Well, out of fairness I've only had the chance to read a few of the entries, but I've found them all very interesting with a lot of food for thought. I thought I wouldn't be the only one. :-) Glad to see that intuition was right in your case.
