I've only watched the second episode while coming off being sick, so I really can't be as rigorous as I'd like to there. You're right about the true stories, I can't argue with you there. I do think TSOT was much better than TEH in terms of respecting the fans; there weren't any obvious jabs at them, and the characters' story made some emotional sense. In terms of casework, it's just not there.
But I'd be lying if I said series three hasn't been a bit of a disappointment. I'm kind of counting on the final episode making more sense of what was going on in these early episodes than I've been able to. They're just so different and so fluffy, it seems to me there has to be things hidden in plain sight that aren't making sense yet but that will. Then again, maybe I'm deluding myself and giving Moffat too much credit. Only tomorrow night will tell, I guess.
